Democratic Socialist Zoharan Mammadani polarized a historic, and deeply, officially won by receiving the most votes recorded in the Mayor Primary of New York City.
After three rounds, Mammadani got 565,639 votes, David N in 1989. Crossing the previous record of 547,901 votes held by Dinnins, according to the rank-pasted voting total released by the NYC Board on Tuesday.
Mamdani celebrated the milestone on X, posting: “With the updated RCV Yoga released by the Election Board, our campaign has officially earned the most votes in a primary in the history of New York City.”

Queens’ far-flung assembly secured 565,639 votes after three rounds of rank, defeating former village Andrew Kuomo by about 13 points, confirming the official BOE data. Cuomo ended with 440,655 votes.
Mamdani’s campaign immediately confiscated numbers, described the result as a “mandate” for progressive policies such as a philanthropic rent freeze, taxpayer-funded childcare and even “fast and free” public buses.
Mamdani said in a statement on Tuesday, “This movement made history on the election night,” promising to fulfill our promises to meet low costs and build a city working people. ,

Mamdani, who openly identify as a Democratic socialist, currently represents Estoria and Long Island City in the New York State Legislative Assembly. Their two-task records include pushing for tenant safety, opposing utility rate hike and advocating large-scale transit subsidy.
The NYC Mayor Primary was used only rank-packed voting for the second time. Mammadani secured 56.2% votes after three rounds compared to 43.8% of Cumo.
Mayor Eric Adams required eight rounds to reach a narrow 50.4%in 2021.
Left political changes in New York City have attracted attention from state and national leaders.

“We are new yorkers, we are not going to be afraid of the dangers with Washington, now, never,” he said.
With the general election, the eyes are now on whether Cumo or other centralist democrats will mount independent challenges.
“President Trump Eric adams supports, and we don’t believe that socialism is replied,” Kuoom’s campaign spokesman Rich Amizopardi told Fox News Digital. “Most of the new yorkers are not Trumpers, and most New Yorkers are not socialists – the majority is located in the middle. We will continue to assess the current situation in the best interest of the people of New York City.”
