When the investigators reached the crime site, they quickly went to work. Turner agreed to go to Hillsboro County Sheriff Office for questioning. Turner told investigators that he did not know how the trasler died.
As investigators canceled the neighborhood, Ryan Lagse, the then Sheriff detective Ryan Lagse, said he saw a neighbor’s surveillance camera facing the direction of the Turner and Trell’s house. He reviewed the footage, in which he heard loud voices coming from his house.
“And then I hear what sounds like shouting, shouting,” Lagas told “48 hours”.
Lagase said that as he continued to listen to the audio from the camera, he heard phrases like “now get up,” and “So F ****** Die”, he said he said that he said that the voice of a woman appeared.
Back to Sheriff’s office, investigators faced the Turner about the sounds and screams coming from their home overnight. At first he said that he has no memory of shouting and shouting, but when he is pressed by the detectives, he remembered the argument.
“He woke me up and we came into an argument on him, because he was still to drink at four in the morning,” he told the detectives.
Turner also told the detectives that the argument became physical, and the trasler strangled him. He claimed that he grabbed his knife and stabbed him.
“I thought he was about to kill me,” Turner described “48 hours”.
During the interview, the detectives discovered a large cut on Turner’s hand. She told them that when she raised a broken glass that morning, she got cut.
Turner shared his story with “48 hours” correspondent Erin Moriyarti in the “Melissa Turner’s Closing Act”. This episode streaming on Saturday, 9/8C on CBS on 12 July and paramount+.
There will be another development that will help the investigators: the discovery of an ADT camera in the couple’s house that recorded the movements of the turner and the traler that night.
“She is running peacefully, is unarmed in the ADT video, and she is angry,” prosecutor Chinway Foset described “48 hours”.
The prosecutors also believe that the recording shows blood on the hand of the turner from the cut, which they say when he stabbed the trasler.
Defense Attorney John Trewna
Despite the turnover’s version of the incidents, he was arrested and accused of killing a second degree with one weapon. Two years later, on 14 February, 2022, the Turner went on a test.
During the test, Turner said he acted in self -defense.
“I thought he was going to kill me, and I was trying to stop him,” Turner told the gamblers.
“And I loved her,” she said.
Turner’s Attorney, John Trewna, was brought to an audio specialist, who testified that he felt that the sounds recorded on the neighbor’s camera had increased in the volume.
“I feel very suspicious that Ms. Turner’s voice is scaring loudly,” Trevena said. “But when it came to this Matthew Tussler, you could barely listen to mumbling.”
But the prosecutors denied that the recording was manipulated.
At the end of the week -long trial, a jury found Turner guilty of killing a second degree. He was sentenced to 20.5 years in jail.
“They could move away from each other and start a separate life,” said Donald Goodwin, a jurler at the turner’s test. “Melissa Turner chose to kill the Matthew Tresr.”
