Mount Levotobi Laki of Indonesia – Laki has begun to reverberate – shooting an ash cloud 18 km (11MI) in the sky at one point – because the residents once again run away from their homes.
There has been no news of the number of casualties since Monday morning, when the volcano on the island of Flores started to spill the ash and lava again. Authorities have placed it at the highest vigilant level since the first round of the blasts three weeks ago.
At least 24 flights were canceled from Bali’s neighboring resort island and on Monday, although some flights had resumed by Tuesday morning.
Muhammad Wafid, head of the geology agency, stated that the initial column of hot clouds which had increased on 11:05 (03:05 GMT) on Monday, was the highest of the volcano since November.
“The explosion of that size certainly carries a high capacity for danger, including its effect on aviation,” Wafid explained the Associated Press.
Monday’s explosion, which was with a thunder, inspired the authorities to enlarge the exclusion area from the Central Vent to the 7 km radius. He also warned of a possible wave flood – a type of mud or debris flows of volcanic material – if heavy rain occurs.
The twin-picker volcano erupted again at 19:30 on Monday, which was sent to the air for 13 km ash clouds and lava. It exploded for the third time at 05:53 on Tuesday on low intensity.
Videos shared overnight show red lava glowing from volcanic peaks as residents get to escape in cars and buses.
According to the local disaster management agency, more than 4,000 people have been vacated from the area so far.
Local officials say the residents who have been kept are facing lack of water, food and masks.
“As the explosion continues, flowing to the west and north with several secondary explosions and ash clouds, the affected communities have not been transferred … the focused emergency response efforts are required,” Paulus Sony Song Tukan, which leads Pulira village, is about 8 km from Luitobi Lucky.
“Water is still available, but is concerned about its cleanliness and is it contaminated, because during yesterday our entire region was given a blanket in thick volcanic ash. [eruptions],” He said.
The Indonesia Pacific sits on the “Ring of Fire”, where tectonic plates collide, often causing volcanic activity as well as earthquakes.
Levotobi Lucky – Laki has exploded several times this year – no casualties have been reported so far.
However, last November an explosion killed at least ten people and forced thousands to flee.
Laki-Laki, which means “man” in Indonesian, is twin with a cool 1,703m, named 1,703 meters, which is Indonesian word for “Woman”.
