National highways have said that the part of the M60 remains locked in both directions after the eight-vehicle pile.
The road has been closed after the accident included in three lauries, two cars and a van at around 11:30 BST and is not expected to reopen between another junctions.
A clean-up operation to remove the debris, diesel and several barrel beer that fell from one of the vehicles, is running with efforts to repair central reservation.
Drivers have been asked to use a signed variety between the Bradbury Interchange for Pyramid Round About at Stockport and Junction 25 for Junction 1.
The National Highway said that one lorry had operated through central reservation and hit several lamps posts, while the other had shed his load of beer barrel.
The North West Ambulance Service said that three people were rushed to the hospital for further treatment, while six others were evaluated for minor injuries.
