Soon inter Miami may have more Argentina flare. The MLS Club has started talks with Atlatico Madrid about a possible transfer deal associated with midfielder Rodrigo de Paul, Soccer Insider Fabricio Romano reported on Monday,
D Paul, 31, entering the final year of its current contract. If De Paul and Atletico Madrid are unable to agree to an extension in the coming weeks, the Spanish club will try to move it to transfer, ESPN reportsESPN added to its report.
D Paul has been one of the top midfielders in La Leiga late. After completing his fourth year with Atletico Madrid, D Paul was named the 2024-25 La Liga team of the season. He scored three goals in more than 53 matches for his club team in the last season and scored 14 goals in 187 career caps for Atletico Madrid.
For his international career, D Paul has become a major player for Argentina in the last few years. He started his last win over France in his 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2024 Copa America in the 2024 Copa America. He has two goals in 78 caps for Argentina.
If Inter Miami de Paul was able to land, it would need to clean a specified player slot. Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are currently occupying three spots for Inter Miami, which a team has the maximum amount of nominated players. With 37 -year -old busquets in July, his potential retirement would seem to be the most possible option for Inter Miami to open a specified player location, According to CBS Sports,
While Busquets can be external, there will be another player to add to de Paul to join Inter Miami since his arrival in 2023. Alba and Luis Suarez played with Messi with Barcelona before joining Inter Miami, while MLS Club has eight other Argentina players.
