New Delhi: Uddhav Thackeray and cousin Raj Thackeray shared the stage at a mega rally in Mumbai organized by their parties to mark the return of government resolutions (GR) related to the three-language policy. Attacking the BJP -led Mahayuta during his address, Raj Thackeray said: “How did he suddenly bring Hindi to impose Hindi without any discussion? For what purpose, and for what?Raj Thackeray said in an excavation at Devendra Fadnavis, “Chief Minister Fadnavis managed to do so that Balasaheb Thackeray could not do – bring himself and Uddhav together.”The MNS chief said that the Maharashtra government withdrew the decision on three -language formulas due to “strong unity shown by Marathi people”.“I have nothing against Hindi, no language is bad. It makes a lot of efforts to create a language. Which falls in the assembly constituency of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray. His latest attendance comes under the backdrop of protests against the Government Proposal (GR) of April 16, released by the BJP -led Mahayati government, which made Hindi a mandatory third language for students in class 1 to 5 in English and Marathi medium schools. After a sharp backlash, the government amended the GR on 17 June to make Hindi alternative. On 29 June, the cabinet decided to fully withdraw both original and revised GRS.On the same day, leaders of both Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS burnt copies of GRS and planned a protest march for July 5. However, after the rollback, the parties abolished the protest and announced a joint “victory” rally instead. For the “victory” incident, both sides decided to avoid displaying their respective flags, symbols or party colors during the rally, a step widely seen as a message of cultural unity on biased politics. The symbol of the incident is also being weighed against the recent electoral performances of the parties. In the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) won 20 seats, while MNS failed to open its account. The last time two Thackeray came publicly together, during the 2005 Malavan Assembly Bipol Abhiyan, former Chief Minister Narayan Rain’s undivided Shiv Sena exiting the undivided Shiv Sena. Raj left the party later that year and launched the Maharashtra Navneman Sena (MNS) in 2006.
