Joy Chestnut was not the only major name in Koni Island for Nathan’s hot dog dining competition.
The People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) recorded its presence outside the Koni Island Staple on Friday before taking the stage to the chestnut.
The members of the organization distributed vegetarian hot dogs to the people along the boardwalk, while all Nathan’s Franks were being prepared for competitive eaters.

Prior to the incident, PETA told Fox News Digital that “Tommy Tofu and his PETA Pulse Nathan will be there in the famous hot dog eating competition, hundreds of delicious vegetarian hot dogs will distribute as they challenge the hungry audiences to enjoy an independent, delicious fourth which is also an animal friendly.”
PETA executive Tracy Reiman said in a statement, “Vegetarian hot dogs are delicious and kind, and who really want to support slaughterhouses – this word is enough – which comes out of them by buying.” “PETA encouraged everyone to give a ring of freedom to all except animals in this fourth place in July and beyond.”

The plant-based brand returned to the chestnut competition after disappearing last year due to partnership with impossible foods.
He looked almost as good, falling down 70.5 dogs and buns over a 10 -minute period. This was his 17th win in his last 18 attempts (he lost to Matt Stony in 2015), and it was the seventh time he assumed 70-Vinar Marks.
