Nathan’s famous hot dog eating contest rules
The annual fourth of the July tradition is in 1916 at the prominent place of Nathan in Surf and Koni Island in Stillwell Avenues.
The contestants have 10 minutes to eat as hot dogs and buns. Pottery and spices are not allowed, but water is provided and other non-or-ordeal beverages are allowed.
Both hot dogs and buns should be swallowed to count, but contestants can break the hot dog with their own hands or separate them from the buns. They can also immerse the buns in a drink for a maximum of five seconds.
If a competitor throws, they are disqualified.
