A bizarre coastal New England city, known for hosting the oldest Independence Day parade, is once again starting the celebration for its 240th anniversary this year.
The city of Bristol, Road Island began hosting the ceremony in 1785.
According to the parade’s website, Henry White, a revolutionary experienced, first of Reverend Henry White of the Congress, conducted the first known patriotic exercises.

It is believed that the festival developed from a procession of members of the community running for patriotic practice.
In the early 1800s, a more formal parade, including a parade of military, civic and firemen, was formed, the same website.

The parade has its own “town core”, which announces, “Listen you listen, listen, you listen.”
“Michael Riley, who took over as Town Core on 14 June 2015, during our flag day celebrations on the city mango,” the website says.

“Michael’s grandfather, James D. Riley rang the bell for 15 years, retiring in 1989. You will see Michael ringing your bell during the fourth incidents of July and ringing your bell in front of the parade of military, civic and firemen.”

The beach city goes out of the onset ceremony on flag day on 14 June.
