After nine months in space, NASA’s astronauts Buch Wilmore and Sun. Williams have finally returned to Earth.
His SpaceX capsules re -entered the Earth’s atmosphere, before the four parachutes opened them to a gentle chintakshi from the coast of Florida.
A dolphin pod revolved the craft.
After a recovery ship pulled it out of the water, astronauts smiled and waved as they were helped to get them out of the hatch, as well as fellow crew members with astronauts astronaut Nick Hague and Cosmonot Alexandr Gorbunov.
Steve Stitch, manager of NASA’s commercial crew program, said at a news conference, “The crew is doing great.”
It ends a mission that was only going to last for eight days.
It was dramatically extended after spacecraft Buch and Suna used to travel to the international space station.
“Crew 9 houses, just for a beautiful landing, is great,” said Joel Montalbano, Deputy Associate Administrator of the Directorate of Space Operations Mission of NASA.
Thanking astronauts for their flexibility and flexibility, he said that SpaceX was a “great companion”.
The journey took 17 hours in the house.
Astronauts were helped on a stretcher, which is a standard exercise after spending so long in a weightless environment.
They will be examined by a medical team, and then mixed with their families.
The first astronaut of Britain Helen Sharman said, “The big thing would be looking at friends and family and those with whom it was expected to spend Christmas.”
“All those family ceremonies, birthdays and other events that they thought they were going to be a part of it – now, suddenly they can probably hold on a little lost time.”
The saga of Buch and Sun. started in June 2024.
He was participating in the first crew examination flight of the Starlineer Spacecraft developed by aerospace company Boeing.
But the capsules faced many technical problems during the visit to the space station, and it was considered very risky to take astronauts home.
Starliner returned safely to empty earth in early September, but it meant that the pair needed a new ride to their return.
So NASA opted for the next scheduled flight: a spacex capsule that came to the ISS in late September.
It flew with two astronauts instead of four, which led to two seats for Booch and Sun’s return.
The only catch was that it was a employed six -month mission, which stops astronauts till now.
The NASA pair expected their long stay in space.
He carried out an array of experiments aboard the orbiting lab and operated the spacewalk, in which Suna broke the record for the woman who spent the most hours outside the space station. And on Christmas, the team is sending a festive message for Santa Hats and Barsinga Antillers – A Christmas that he originally planned to spend at home,
And despite being described as “stuck” to astronauts, they were never really.
During their entire mission, the spacecraft is always connected to the space station – to receive them – and on the rest – home – if there was an emergency.
Now the astronauts have come home, they will soon be taken to Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, where they will be examined by medical experts.
Long -term missions in space take a toll on the body, the astronauts lose the density of the bone and face the loss of muscles. Blood circulation is also affected, and fluid shifts can also affect vision.
The body may take a long time to return normally, so the pair will be given a broad exercise rule as their body will be re -adapted to live with gravity.
British astronaut Tim Peak said it may take some time to re -adjust it.
“Your body looks great, it looks like a holiday,” he told the BBC.
“You have an easy time in your heart, an easy time in your muscles and bones. You are floating around the space station in this amazing zero gravitational environment.
“But you should maintain exercise rule. Because you are fit in space, not for space, but when you return to the Earth’s punished gravitational atmosphere. They can actually be punished on the first two or three days before the Earth.”
In the interview while on the ship, Buch and Suni have said that they were ready for their longer a long time compared to being expected – but there were things that they were looking forward when they went home.
Talking to CBS last month, Suni Williams said: “I am eager to see my family, my dogs and jump into the sea. It would be really good – coming back to Earth and feeling the earth.”
