According to a water company, more than 3,000 customers in Kent have recently been facing water supply issues due to heatwave.
The South East Water on Wednesday apologized to homes and businesses in the Whitestable, Sisaltar and the surrounding areas, who were not experiencing water or low pressure.
The company stated that it was “working hard to restore the supply as soon as possible”, to directly inject water into its network using tankers.
The incident manager Nick Bell confirmed that the company has shifted a bottled water station to the Sansbari at the Whitstable, Chestfield.
“This will be open to customers up to 21:00 BST on Wednesday,” Mr. Bell said.
On Wednesday afternoon, a bottled water station was opened in WhatsTable, but had to shut down.
Mr. Bell said that it was “making it unsuitable due to the large amount of traffic on the site”.
He said, “We are working hard to restore the supply as soon as possible, help bring back the drinking water on the tap of customers to inject water directly to our network using tankers,” he said.
Mr. Bell said that the company is also giving bottled water to customers in the area on its priority service register.
Whitestable resident Max Brickolani told BBC Radio Kent: “We had no water since noon.
“We were told that the pressure would be reduced and it went into a trick and went away.”
Meanwhile, Hail Birch said his family members could not flush the toilet.
“I have come directly from work to get water and it is said that I can have only eight bottles,” he said.
“You can’t bathe in it. And we have pets who need water, so most of it is going under the toilet.”
A South East Water spokesperson said: “Currently there are issues of pressure on our site, which means that we are unable to pump water.”
The incident manager Steve Andrews said: “Drinking water demand in Kent has been continuously higher than the monthly average every day for the last 17 days.
“Unfortunately, this increased demand in hot weather has raaled our drinking water storage levels very little.”
He said: “We know that the blockage of water supply is disruptive and we are sorry for all the customers affected by it.
“We are working to restore their water supply as soon as possible.”
A statement on the company’s website said that it is estimated that the issue will be resolved on Wednesday.
