A priest who led a “creed” within the Church of England attacked the “shocking” number of women in his congregation, was heard by a court.
Chris Brain had told the victims to “keep him on bed” with “sexual favor” in the bedroom of his family’s home, telling the gamblers in his test.
Prosecutor Tim Clarke Casey said that women lived in a “complete terror” from Seva (NOS) at nine o’clock in the 1980s and 1990s.
Mr. Brain, 68, Ab Wilmsalo, Park Road in Cheshire, 36 indecent attacks and Inner for a rape against 13 women are on tests in the London Crown Court. He denies all the allegations.
The NOS was initially appreciated by the Church of England leaders for its “ground-breaking” services, including Live Music and Multimedia to attract the St. Thomas Church to attract young people, Mr. Clarke opened the prosecution case on Tuesday.
But he said that the group became “a creed”, in which members were encouraged to cut themselves from family and friends, leaving them “completely dependent” on NOS and “desperate for attention and praise” of their leader Mr. Brain.
The jury heard some young women, who were involved in the movement, were admitted to a team, who saw Mr. Brain, his wife and his daughter in his Sheffield house, where the defendants were “surrounded by attractive women” were wearing lingerie or other revealed clothes.
A woman who joined the team – referred to as “The Lycra Lovelys” or “The Lycra Nun” – a police interview said that she was warned that she would be excluded if she disregarded Mr. Brain.
Mr. Brain also “suddenly visible” next to female members, as they went on the road and asked them to go into their car, the jury heard.
Mr. Clarke said: “Those who did not keep the defendant happy, would not find themselves separate from the group – it was incredibly disappointing for young influential women who had become emotionally dependent on NOS and, as a result, were highly weak.”
The prosecutor said that “any ability to agree” for the sexual acts with Mr. Brain “was removed by the defendant’s domineering nature, his entire life by his control and his complete terror by ostrasiazes”.
The alleged crimes are said to be between 1981 and 1995.
The test, which is expected to run for six to eight weeks, is in progress.
