Redukenu came in a New York encounter against Rayabkina, who was riding a wave of optimism.
A productive season, where he spent more time in court and looks fast flexible, he has placed it back to the top 30 of the world.
Redukanu’s ranking has not been high since September 2022 – when the mountain fell on its mountain to win the US Open.
,
“I have lost to IGA to Aryana and Elena twice, so it’s difficult,” said Redukanu.
“But at the same time, this is where I am with my ranking. I can play top opponents in the first, second or third round.
“So I just got to perform my best in the next few months until Australia continued to just stop the gap and close the difference.”
Pushing Sabalenka twice – taking them to three sets in Cincinnati in less than a month of Wimbledon’s meeting – there were further signs of encouragement.
However, the defeat of the necklace by world number nine Rybikina, who hit Britain from court, killed the winners with a hurry, made a reminiscent of how he still needed to improve.
This meant that Redukanu has now won only three of his 18 career matches against the top -10 opponents.
“Depending on the day, depending on how we match, I think I am getting better overall,” he said.
“I think I am definitely improving in the last few months. I just need to maintain continuously and keep it back.”
