A British couple’s family detained in Iran has requested the pair to a immediate meeting with the Foreign Secretary after “sudden whisper” in court.
Lindsay and Craig Foreman from East Sussex were taken into custody in January during a motorcycle World Tour and was later accused with espionage – the allegations they refuse.
Relatives said they were informed that the couple was taken to a court hearing on Wednesday, but said they “were deeply worried” had no prior knowledge of the hearing and no details had been given since then.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) stated that it would “continue to extend the matter directly with Iranian officials”.
The couple’s son Joe Bennett said that he suddenly “suddenly whispers” in court with a lawyer appointed by a state, which they only met “.
“We can’t see how [this] Mr. Bennett of Folkstone at Kent said, “A fair test can be considered.
He said that the UK ambassadors were due to meeting Mr. Foreman on the same day, but “it did not happen”.
“Since the last view of Craig has been good for more than three and a half months, and at that time, he had already lost weight.
“In Iran’s gel system, prisoners should rely on their accounts deposited to buy food, clean water and hygiene products.
“And, as FCDO has been unable to transfer money to Craig’s account so far, I can only guess how it should be now.”
The family said that she believes that Mrs. Foreman managed to see the UK ambassador on Wednesday and “provided with a comfort pack of the required supply”.
Through its consultant Radd Seiger, the family has now requested a meeting with Foreign Secretary David Lemy to ensure that the couple’s immediate return to the UK is ensured to ensure efforts to secure the immediate return.
A FCDO spokesperson said: “We are deeply concerned with the reports that two British citizens in Iran have been accused of espionage.
“We keep raising the matter directly with Iranian officials.
“We are providing them with consular assistance and are in close contact with their family members.”
FCDO warns all British and British-Irani citizens not to visit Iran due to “arrest, inquiry or custody risk”.
