The racist abuse sent on social media to England footballer Jess Carter has been arrested by a person on a “disgusting and frightening” racist abuse.
After receiving the report, the police started an investigation that the message was sent to the 27 -year -old defender during the UEFA female euro in July.
A 59 -year -old man from Great Harwood was first arrested by the Lancashire police on suspicion of malicious communication and has since been released under investigation.
The Chief Constable Mark Roberts of the Cheshire Police, who led the investigation, stated that the messages sent to Carter were “frightening” and “anyone should not be subject to such racist abuse”.

Following the messages, the UK Football Policy Unit (UKFPU) launched an inquiry to include social media companies, which to track those responsible.

He said: “We want to clarify that racist abuse of this nature will not be tolerated.
“Everyone is responsible for what they do and say, and we want to make sure that the culprits do not hide to post the comments by not hiding behind a social media profile.”
The Lancashire police shared body footage of arrest at man’s house in Great Harwood.
PC Dan Fish from the force said: “Lancashire police does not tolerate hatred in any form, either person or online”.
