Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet in China on the edge of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin on 31 August in China.
It has been almost a year since the two leaders met, the last meeting was held in October last year, after which India and China announced success in negotiations to resolve their military deadlock with a real control line.
It was reported earlier that PM Modi will interact with Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and several Central Asian leaders, while for the SCO summit in China.
Last month, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Xi Jinping in China, in the first visit to the country since relations between the two countries in 2020.
Subsequently, Jaishankar had said that he greeted President Drupadi Murmu and PM Modi to Jinping.
A part of Jaishankar’s tweet said, “The President Xi of the recent development of our bilateral relations has given importance to the guidance of our leaders in that regard.”
For years since 2020, relations between India and China have recently begun to normalize.
Several major initiatives were finalized, including re -starting direct flights following the talks of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi with National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval recently. In addition, both sides also agreed to facilitate visa for tourists, businesses, media and other visitors.
