North Korean leader Kim Jong -un will participate in a military parade in Beijing on 3 September, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry said – which is considered to be the first international meeting of leaders.
The so -called “Victory Day” parade will mark the end of the 80th anniversary of China’s war against Japan and the end of the World War 2.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will also be expected to attend the event from 26 heads.
China is expected to display its latest weapon, including hundreds of aircraft, tanks and anti -draone systems – its army’s new force structure is being fully shown in a parade for the first time.
The high choreographed parade will march in the formation of tens of thousands of military personnel through Tianmen Square, which includes soldiers of 45 of the so-called areas of Chinese military as well as the so-called areas of war giants.
The 70 -minute parade, which will be surveyed by Chinese leader Xi Jinping, is expected to be closely seen by analysts and Western powers.
At a press conference given by China’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday, Beijing – One of the closest colleagues of Pyongyang – praised his neighbor for his decades – long “traditional friendship” and said that the two countries would continue to cooperate on “regional peace and stability”.
Kim’s presence is an upgrade from China’s last victory day parade, which took place in 2015 – during which Pyongyang sent one of his top officials, Cho Ryong -haye.
Kim and China’s Xi of China, who participated in the parade at the center of Beijing standing with Putin of Russia, will be quite a photo session.
But it will also be an important diplomatic victory for XI.
US President Donald Trump is trying to make a deal with Putin to end the war in Ukraine. He has also announced last week that he wants to meet Kim again.
The Chinese leader is indicating here that he keeps a geopolitical card in this game. Its effect is – although it is limited on both leaders.
Time is also important. The White House has suggested that President Trump may be in the field in late October and is open to meet Xi.
Chinese leaders will go to any summit with the US President who was fully briefed by Kim and Putin and knows that they are not being left out of the loop.
Kim visited Beijing for six years – he last participated in the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2019.
Recurring North Korean leader also visited Beijing three times in 2018, marking a particularly busy year for international visits as he rarely travels abroad.
Japan asked European and Asian countries not to participate in the parade earlier this week,
Most Western leaders are not expected to attend the parade due to their differences with Russian leader Putin in the Ukraine War.
Japan had earlier allegedly urged foreign leaders not to attend the parade, saying that it had “anti -Japanese overtone”.
