A man accused a 14 -year -old girl of sexually assaulting, insisting: “I am not a wild animal”, because she fought in court.
Hadush Kebatu of Ethiopia is accused of telling the girl and her friend “you will be a good wife” during Eating, Emping on July 7 and 8, Epigging, Essex.
His arrest caused an anti-immigration protests and counter-demonstrations outside the Bell Hotel, where Mr. Kebatu was living as a refugee seeker.
He denies two sexual offenses, provokes a girl to engage in sexual activity, and harasses without violence.
Giving evidence in the court of the Colchester Magistrate, Mr. Kebatu said: “The girl can be my daughter, she is very young.”
Speaking from the witness box, he said: “I am not a wild animal. These are children, tomorrow’s future, new generation.”
Mr. Kebatu said that he was concerned about his refuge claims and his fellow migrants results.
Asked if she told the girls whether she wanted to have a child with them, she said “never”, saying that she was a sports teacher in Ethiopia.
It said after a witness that gave evidence against Mr. Kebatu that he listened to him that he was from Africa and paid 2,500 euros (£ 2,155) to reach Britain on “rubber dingi”.
The test reported that the shelter seeker approached a girl and her friend, who was eating pizza at the Epting Town Center on 7 July.
The witness, a boy who was with a 14 -year -old children, said about Mr. Kebatu: “He was mainly interested in both of them because she was girls.”
He claimed that the refugee took the shelter saying: “Come back to Africa, you will be a good wife.”
It was alleged that the defendant saw the girl and her friends the next day, placed her hand on her thigh and tried to kiss her on a bench.
She told the police that she says to “Fruz” and Mr. Kebatu during the incident: “No, I am 14 years old,” but claimed that she replied: “Age did not matter”.

During the test, Mr. Kebatu gave his birth date as December 1986, making him 38, but the court record suggested that he was 41 years old.

The woman called the police, when after a few moments, she saw the man talking to one of the 14 -year -old girls.
The police were played in his 999 call court, in which he could be heard shouting: “Get away from them”.
Mr. Kebatu denied two cases of sexual harassment, a count of sexual harassment attempt, a count of provoking a girl to engage in sexual activity, and a count of harassment without violence.
The test has been postponed by 4 September.
