New Delhi: All 53 claims and objections received by the Election Commission of India for Special Intensive Amendment (SIR) in Bihar this month were filed by just a political party-Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (liberation).
On Wednesday, ECI released its daily bulletin from 1 August to 27 August.
The Election Commission said that the booth level agents appointed by the parties record these claims, and such submissions should follow the prescribed forms – Form 6 (claims) and Form 7 (objections) – With appropriate announcements for mottion. Any general or wholesale complaints that do not follow these rules are considered only as general complaints instead of formal claims or objections.
Meanwhile, the Commission also reported to individual voters to receive 178,948 such claims and objections directly, of which 20,702 were resolved after the compulsory seven-day notice period. A parallel stream included 635,124 Form 6 submissions from new eligible voters aged 18 and above, of which 27,825 was processed after seven days.
The ECI reiterated that no deletion of names from the draft list (published on 1 August) may be without conducting an inquiry, without issuing a speech order, and the SIR can provide a fair, appropriate opportunity under the framework.
The list of excluded names, with reasons, is available on the searchable portal of district-level DM websites and CEO, which is able to file claims to citizens with supporting Aadhaar proof, where needs are required.
