New Delhi: India Block on Tuesday accused the Election Commission of inclusion of “more than 5,000” voters in an election role in a Bihar district, which to benefit the ruling NDA in the upcoming assembly elections. At a press conference in Phulparsa in Madhubani district, Congress National General Secretary Randeep Surjewal and RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha alleged that “suspected” voters were mostly registered in Valmiki Nagar Assembly section in West Champaran district. He cited the case of a 45 -year -old man, who appeared in the role of Bihar despite the electorate of Khadda constituency in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission dismissed the charge, describing the figure “imaginary” and without proof. In a statement issued by the West Champaran District Administration and in a statement shared by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, officials clarified that “this is a draft electoral roll published by EC on August 1 and not a list of final voters. The draft role is to invite the very objective claims and objections, which are in relation to repetition or any other explosions.”The administration further said, “In addition, in the press conference, the figure of more than 5,000 suspected voters has been explained without any further details or evidence. It seems to be a fictional figure that does not lend himself for verification.”It explained that in Valmiki Nagar, changes during rivers often force residents to move their addresses, which sometimes leads to several registrations. “The purpose of special intensive amendment is to remove such discrepancies,” the statement states. In the case of Chhedi Ram, the Khadda voter, named by Surjewala and Jha, clarified that his name was included in the draft role, but “he has already taken an application for his name’s delay” from the UP constituency “.
