French prosecutors have opened an investigation into the Australian video platform kick on the death of a material manufacturer during a livestream.
Rafael Graven – also known as Jean Pormanov – was found dead in a residence near the city of Nice last week.
He was known for the videos in which he had tolerated clear violence and insult.
The Paris prosecutor said the investigation would focus on whether Kick deliberately broadcast “videos of attacks on personal integrity”.
The BBC has contacted Kick for comment. A spokesperson of the forum earlier said that the company was “reviewing” the circumstances around the death of Mr. Graven.
The prosecutor’s investigation will also try to determine whether Kick has complied with the European Union’s Digital Services Act, and the platforms to inform the authorities have the responsibility of whether individuals have life or safety in question.
In a separate declaration, French Minister of Digital Affairs, Clara Chappaz said that the government would sue the stage for “negligence” on its failure to block “dangerous materials”.
Mr. Graven was found dead on 18 August.
Local media reported that the 46 -year -old man had subjected to violence and lack of sleep during the sections, and died in a sleep during a live broadcast.
The next day in a post on the chappaz, described his death as a “full horror”, and said that he was humiliated and misbehaved on stage for months.
A postmortem came to know later that week that Mr. Graven died. No result of trauma Or action of a third party.
The local police have seized the video and interviewed many people who say they were present when they died.
He also revealed that Mr. Graven was earlier spoken by detectives and “strongly denied” being a victim of violence, stating that the acts he was involved in, “to make a discussion” and staged to earn money.
Kick is a platform similar to Twitch, on which users can transmit materials and interact with other users in real time.
Kick said in his previous statement, “We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jean Pormanov and express our condolences to our family, friends and community.”
Its spokesperson said the community guidelines of the platform were “designed to protect the creators” and Kick “was committed to maintain these standards on our platform”.
