‘All clear’ released after shooter report active at South Carolina University

South Carolina University released a “all clear” after warning of reports of an active shooter on the campus on Sunday evening.

Campus officials said there was no emergency.

Earlier in the evening, the school ordered students and employees to be sheltered in place in its Colombia campus, stating that an active shooter was reported near Thomas Cooper Library.

The school said that the library would remain closed, despite the fact that no shooting took place.

An alert went out after ET at 6:30 pm, warning people to escape from the region and empty or barricade if necessary.

Officials later said that there was no evidence of an active shooter.
