The South Carolina University ordered the students and employees to give shelter on Sunday evening at its Columbia campus, stating that an active shooter was reported near Thomas Cooper Library.

An alert went out after ET at 6:30 pm, warned people to escape from the region and vacate the barricade if necessary, the school said.
The school stated that a suspect was seen as a white person wearing about 6 feet tall, black pants and last on or near the library.
