Illinois village. JB Pritzkar, a Democrat, said that there is no emergency and President Donald Trump “trying to create a crisis” after the report that the federal government may deploy the National Guard to Chicago to address the crime in the city.
The Governor said in a statement on Saturday, “At this time the state of Illinois has not received any request or outreach from the federal government whether we need assistance, and we have not requested for federal intervention.”
This comes after Trump’s move to promote the presence of federal law enforcement in Washington, DC in an attempt to reduce crime. Hundreds of federal agents and National Guard soldiers have been deployed on DC streets as part of the district’s federal acquisition.
