The human remains found by the builders working on a property are believed to have belonging to children who have received “a separate historical burial”, police said.
Lancashire police said that the workers had reported to find bones in Cleveland Road, Lithar on 15 August.
Since then the remains have been confirmed to be human and officials said that they were “not considering it as suspicious”.
In a statement on social media, Felted Police said: “Our inquiry has inspired us to understand that they can be of children and it is a separate historical burial.”
Date inspection Andrew Kruk said: “This is an incredibly tragic discovery and we are continuing our inquiry to establish the identity of the remains, including our age and how they died.
“When we are having an open mind, I want to clarify that we are not considering it as suspicious. We believe at this level that buried is a historical.
“We want to thank the owners and contractors of the house for their patience, while our inquiry was going on in property.”
The remains have now been removed from the area.
