Businessman Sergio Gore, US President Donald Trump was appreciated by the US administration on Saturday for becoming the next US ambassador to India.
Several close associates of Donald Trump, including Vice President JD Vance, US Secretary State Marco Rubio and FBI chief Kash Patel welcomed Gore’s nomination for the post.
Reacting to his nomination, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutynik stated “India is in great hands” as he praised Sergio Gore. Lutnik tweeted, “Congratulations to @Sergiogor on his appointment as an US ambassador to India. Throughout the campaign and administration, Sergio has been a fearless lawyer for President Trump and American people. We all wish him amazing success and India is in great hands.”
Meanwhile, JD Vance said that Gore would create a “brilliant ambassador” for India for America as he thanked Donald Trump for taking a decision. “Sergio is a great person and will create a magnificent ambassador for our country in India. A lot of our success in the last few months was due to the hard work of Sergio. I am thankful to Potus for giving him this new role,” Wane has written on X.
FBI chief Kash Patel also welcomed Gore’s enrollment, called him a “excellent pick” for the post.
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, whose late late comments have targeted India to trade with Russia, also welcomed Gore’s nomination, called him one of Donald Trump’s “most loyal advisors”.
“Congratulations to my great friend Sergio Gore on his appointment as Ambassador in India and his appointment as a special messenger for South and Central Asian Affairs. As one of the most loyal advisors of President Trump, Sergio is an excellent pick, which has an unprecedented track record of success for the President.
Sergio Gore has been nominated as the next US Ambassador to India and a special messenger for South and Central Asian Affairs. He would be successful to Eric Garccy, whose period ended as the US Ambassador to India, ended on January 20, 2025.
Ever since the post was empty, the high-profile appointment was triggering speculation. While the post was vacant, the interim charge d’fyers were looking at the operations at the American Embassy in Jorgan’s Andrews in India.
The appointment of Sergio Gore comes at a time when relations between India and the US are sensitive on the issue of 50% tariffs on Indian imports, threatened by Donald Trump.
