Sharjah has welcomed an important new addition to its architectural and religious landscape with the inauguration of the Quran Mosque at Aljada. Considering both the scale and simplicity, the mosque showed Emirates’ commitment to Emirate’s Islamic values, community welfare and modern spiritual infrastructure.
A grand opening under the leadership of royal protection
On the afternoon of August 21, 2025, HH Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy ruler of Sharjah and President of Arda, officially inaugurated the Quran Mosque in Aljada district. After the inauguration ceremony, Sheikh Sultan led the worshipers in the Dhuhar (afternoon) prayer, marking the spiritual start of the mosque.Many high-level officers and dignitaries participated in the opening, including:
- Abdullah Khalifa al Subausi, Chairman
Department of Islamic Affairs - Hasan Yakub Al Mansauri, General Secretary of Sharjah Media Council
- Khalifa al Shaibani, General Manager of Tilal Properties
- Citizen of Sharjah and other senior statistics of religious institutions
Architectural highlights and capacity
At a distance of 6,388 square meters, the Quran Masjid is one of the largest mosques in Sharjah and is to be established in the first Aljada community. Its design is notable for the absence of internal columns, creates an open and uninterrupted prayer place – a rare architectural characteristic that increases both visibility and peace.Major architects and spatial characteristics include:
- Main Prayer Hall: 1,600 adjusts worshipers
- Outdoor courtyard: up to 1,000 people
- Dedicated Women’s Section: Capacity for 400 worshipers
- Total capacity: 3,000 worshipers
The mosque tops with a circular central dome and a 39-meter high tower, a combination of minimalism with traditional Islamic aesthetics. Externally elegant Arabic is extended by calligraphy, with visual sophistication, simplicity is merged.
Modern facilities with spiritual attention
Beyond its architectural elegance, the Quran Mosque includes thoughtful features designed to support spiritual and communal life. This includes:
- Private room for personal thinking and religious studies
- Residence for the Imam and Museine of the Mosque
- Area and toilet features for worshipers
These features aim to create a welcome and functional environment for both daily prayer and deep spiritual engagement, which serve both the residents of Aljada and visitors of the region.
Spiritual importance and future plans
During the inauguration, religious scholar Salem Al Dobi gave a speech highlighting the importance of the mosque as a gathering place for worship and moral upliftment. He spoke on his role in the spiritual awards of building mosques and his role in promoting peace and unity among loyal people, described him as “Gods of God” with a central place in Islamic life.The Quran Mosque is not a standalone project. It marks the first of many mosques employed by Arda to meet the growing needs of the Aljada community. Two additional mosques are in development, which form part of a comprehensive effort with the long -term vision of Sharjah to expand access to places of worship in Emirates.
