United States economist Jeffrey Sachs slammed Tariff in addition to US President Donald Trump on India, calling them “strategic strategies”.
Sachs said in an interview with Crystal Ball and Sagar NJT at the breaking points show, “India’s 25 percent penalty tariff accusation was a long -term strategic step from the US foreign policy for a long time. And it is saying a lot.”
Sachs highlighted that the tariff resulted in the diplomatic relations between the US and India which had been cultivated for years. The economist further said that Indians had learned their lesson that they cannot trust America.
“After India, a country that is farming for strategic and diplomatic relations, and Trump finished it overnight. Because anyway, even though it was removed 25 percent of the fine, and I think it would probably be, Indians learned a lesson that I was trying to tell them for years, I can’t trust the United States.
Sachs says that Trump was great unilateral for BRICS
Sachs said that Trump was “great united” for BRICS countries. BRICS is a platform for collaboration between a group of emerging economies. It consists of ten countries – Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russian Federation, South Africa, United Arab Emirates.
“What this (additional tariff) did overnight, BRICS countries were united as before. Within 24-48 hours, Brazil, Russia with Russia, Brazil with Russia, Brazil with China, China with China, China with China, China with China, Russia with Russia.
The economist said that Trump, Senator Lindsay Graham and US President’s Trade Advisor Peter Navaro had integrated BRICS countries.
“There is no ability to have a reliable relationship with America. It is a doodle land and you are not going to get the kind of relationship you think. Everyone in India understands it,” Sachs said.
