The International Criminal Court (ICC) has stated that it “terminates” the new US sanctions on its judges and prosecutors.
On Wednesday, the US State Department announced new sanctions on two judges and two prosecutors at the ICC to engage in efforts to prosecute citizens of US and Israel.
State Secretary Marco Rubio accused the ICC of being “national security threat” and “a means of lofing” against the US and Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed the American step. The ICC has issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yov Galent for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity on Israeli war in Gaza.
France also condemned the move, expressing “Discre” as one of its judges, Nicholas Guilau, among those who were approved.
Three other ICC officers nominated by the US are Kimmim Khan, the Deputy Communator of Fiji along with Canadian Judge Kimmim Khan and Maam Mandian Niyang of Senegal.
Rubio declared the sanctions “politicalism, misuse of power and illegitimate judicial overlapping” in a statement.
The ICC is a global court that has the power to bring prosecution for massacre, crime against humanity and war crimes.
The court called the latest sanctions “a major attack” against its freedom and fairness.
He said, “They are also rules-based international orders and, above these, are also against millions of innocent victims worldwide.”
The AFP news agency reported that the French Foreign Ministry criticized restrictions as “contrary to the principle of an independent judiciary”.
Meanwhile, Israeli PM Netanyahu welcomed the decision, called it “a strong measure against the horrific smear campaign” against Israel.
According to the US State Department, Gilou is being approved to authorize the arrest warrant against Netanhu and Gallant.
The US said the Canadian Judge, Prost, has been approved to investigate American personnel in Afghanistan, stating that both Khan and Niang are responsible for “illegitimate action against Israel”.
Penalty means that any property and interests have been blocked by four officials in the US.
This latest round of sanctions came with four other judges earlier this year after the US imposed a similar sanctions on ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan KC.
The United Nations Human Rights Head first demanded the withdrawal of its sanctions to four judges to the US, saying the decision directly runs the counter for “Rules Honor for Honor”.
In July, the US also approved Franceska Albani, a special synergy of the United Nations Human Rights Council, who has been a major critic of the Israeli military aggressive in Gaza.
Rubio cited Albanis’ support for the ICC and his participation in court decisions to prosecute American or Israeli citizens as justification for the move.
In response, Albanis canceled the support for the ICC on social media, saying that she came from the country’s country Italy, where lawyers and judges “defended justice at a big cost and often with their lives”.
“I intend to respect that tradition,” he added to the post.
