Historians of a museum have linked the 50 -year -old Telex machine to a modern day Artificial Intelligence (AI), which has a “conversation extended for decades”.
Telex was a message transfer service where the text would be typed into a machine and printed on the recipient.
However, the machine users in Amberli Museum in West Sussex will not get response from another human, instead it will chat to answer their questions.
The museum stated that visitors were testing the new machine, which was made “thank you for the” thanks “of the volunteer David Waters.
Users can type in questions and get a printed response from the spat – an AI chatbot.
A spokesperson of the museum said: “The experience begins using a rotary dial to create an initial connection, which makes an unforgettable meeting of different communication technologies from half a century.”
He said that the project “fully captures the spirit of the Amberli Museum – celebrating our technical past by joining today’s innovations.
“This is a conversation in decades.”
