Bharat San Nigam Limited (BSNL) is giving an aggressive push to recover the market share in India’s competitive telecom sector. State -run operator is preparing almost a capital expenditure (CAPEX) plan To expand its 4G network, 47,000 crores, as well as an ultra-clust freedom offer, priced only 1.
In a conversation with EtteleCom, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia confirmed that BSNL is committed to rapidly enhance its indigenous 4G infrastructure, designed and deployed under the Atma Garr Bharat initiative. BSNL has already completed its highest Capex 25,000 crores in last year, and new 47,000 crore investment will help accelerate the rollout of 100,000 4G towers across the country.

The minister emphasized that BSNL chose to create its network using domestic technology, placed India completely among a group of nations with homegron telecom stacks. The upcoming expansion will improve coverage in rural and remote areas by creating a foundation for commercial 5G services in the future.
To show its indigenous 4G network, BSNL has introduced a limited period freedom proposal for new customers. At the price at only 1, the plan includes unlimited local and STD voice calls, 2 GB of 4G data per day (low speed up to 40kbps), and 100 SMS messages per day. A new SIM card is also included in the cost.
The proposal is valid until 31 August 2025 and is available only through BSNL retailers and general service centers (CSCs). Existing BSNL customers are not eligible, and availability through home delivery services is yet to be confirmed.
BSNL Chairman and Managing Director A Robert J. Ravi said that the proposal aims to taste the new users the company’s indigenously manufactured 4G services, which directly compete with private operators such as Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, whose same entry-level plans start. 349.
