By the end of this month, Kolkata Metro can start working on three new stretches, on Wednesday a senior official of the city’s metro operator ‘Metro Railway Kolkata’ said.
This Railway Board Chairman Satish Kumar during his two-day visit inspected the 2.6 km long Esplayed-Seladah section and Nopara-airport stretch of the East-West metro.
“We are hoping that the Commissioner of Railway Safety will open 2.6 km at a distance of 2.6 km of the East-West Metro between Aspland and Sealdah and after the visit to the Chairman of the Railway Board, the entire green line connecting Howrah Maidan-Cult Lake Sector V will be open to commutors by August.”

The spokesperson said, “This Salt will help passengers, who currently have to land in Asplanade from Howrah and re-navigate conjected traffic to reach Sealdah for connecting metro to Sector V.

New Kolkata Metro Stretch may operate from September
After August, Kolkata’s metro network may expand in September as two more major stretches have received all mandatory approval. The spokesperson said the first phase of the Yellow line – Noapara -Airport Corridor – and Hemant Mukhopadhyay (Ruby Peacock) of Orange Line (Ruby Mor) -Belghata Corridor, which is 4.5 km long, is now waiting for a node from the PMO to start operations by next month.

He said, “The airport has its metro services associated with the airport in big cities. Nopara-airport corridor opening will meet that need,” he said.
Ruby -Bellagata Stretch will partly come as a relief for passengers traveling from Kavi Subhash (New Geria) line, which is a report to PTI to reach the entry point of Salt Lake and interchange at the nearby Phulbagan metro station on the Green Line or to take transportation for IT hub at Sector V, Nicko Park, Karunmoy or City Center 1.
