The police officer said on Wednesday that an 18 -year -old girl from Gujarat, who was a victim of suspected honor killing, had torn the highly competitive national eligibility cum entrance examination.
Assistant Superintendent of Police of Danta Division Suman Nala said that the teenager of Banskantha district was killed by her father and two uncles on 24 June in her original village.
For the preparation of the All-India Medical Entrance Examination, the victim moved to Palanpur city, and during that time, she came into a living relationship with a man.
Nala said, “She had given NEET a few months ago, but it is still not clear whether she wanted to become a doctor or nurse. According to the recently announced results, she has approved the test with good marks.”
Nala said that on August 6, on the basis of a complaint submitted by his live-in partner Haresh Chaudhary of Tharad police in the district, the girl’s father Sandabhai Patel and uncle Shivrambi Patel were booked for the murder, as they were against the relationship.
After registration of the FIR, the police arrested Shivrambi and added the name of Narn Patel as co-accused in the FIR, the official said. “We arrested Narn Patel on Tuesday. He is the cousin of Shivrambai and Seedabhai, who is still absconding,” said Nala.
Two weeks ago, the police started an investigation into the death of the teenager after Chaudhary, a resident of Vadgamada village, in which an application was submitted, alleging that he was killed by his family as he was against his relationship and wanted to marry someone else, Nala said.
According to cedar, Chaudhary, who is already married and has a son, fell in love with the girl when he gave her a lift from Tharad city to Palanpur. Nala said that it is still not clear that Chaudhary had told the girl about her marital status.
In May, the two went to Ahmedabad, where they signed a formal agreement for a live-in relationship. He later traveled to Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
However, on 12 June, a police team from Tharad and a relative of the girl tracked him to a hotel in Rajasthan.
The girl was handed over to her uncle Shivramby, while Chaudhary was arrested in an old case registered in Kutch district under the Prohibition Act.
After coming out of jail on 21 June, Chaudhary came to know that the girl had messed her up twice through Instagram on 17 June, expressing fear that she could be killed by her family or marry someone else.
Chaudhary told the police that he could not read his message ever since he was in jail. He later approached a lawyer who filed a prisoner corpus petition in the Gujarat High Court, stating that the girl should be produced before the court.
However, two days before the hearing on 25 June, Chaudhary came to know that he died on the night of 24 June and his funerals were also performed the next morning.
According to the FIR, the girl’s father and uncle decided to kill her, fearing that she might be with the complainant once again.
“When the girl was at Shivrambai’s house in Dantia village of Tharad on the night of 24 June, she was offered a sleeping bullet milk. When she fainted, the couple strangled her and demonstrated their funeral to hide their crime the next morning.”
