A federal judge on Tuesday ordered the federal immigration officers to immediately rectify the conditions in the immigration holding facility of New York City, which after complaints of migrants detained of dirty, crowded rooms and lack of basic hygiene products.
US District Judge Louis A. The couple issued a temporary preventive order, requiring American immigration and customs enforcement (ICE), to reduce capacity, improve hygiene and provide sleep mats in keeping the rooms inside the 26 federal plazas, a government building in Lower Manhattan.
According to the Associated Press, after a trial filed by the detained migrants, it was claimed that they were subject to lack of uneven and crowded conditions, excessive temperature and soap, toothbrush and other essential things.

One woman said that during her period, she could not use menstrual products because only two were made available in an entire room of women, showing from court filing.

At a hearing on Tuesday, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Heather Gregorio described the facility as “inhuman and frightening circumstances”.
DOJ Attorney Jeffrey Oostericher Accepted that the prisoners were receiving only two food per day and were not given medication or sleeping mat. However, according to the news of the hill, he pushed the crowds back.

This means that according to the associated press, the capacity of the largest hold room will be brought down to about 15 people, as according to the associated press, there were at least 40.
Cells should be cleaned thoroughly three times a day. Officers additionally need to provide adequate supply of clean bed mats and soaps, toothbrushes, toothpastes and other hygiene products.
The judge also ordered the officials to ensure that the prisoners have confidential telephone calls with lawyers, including interpreters for those who do not speak English.

The lawsuit was brought by the immigrant rights organization Make the Road New York, as well as the American Civil Liberty Union and the New York Civil Liberty Union.
ACLU senior employee Attorney Yunis Cho said in a statement, “Today’s order sends a clear message: ICE cannot catch people under derogatory circumstances and denial them for proper procedure and legal representation.”
The statement continued, “We will continue to fight to ensure that the rights of the people are extended to 26 federal plazas and beyond.”
