Officials say two people have been badly shot in the western American state of Idaho, responding to the brush fire.
Robert Noris, the office of Kootenai County Sheriff, said that at least one active shooter was firing in law enforcement with high power rifles in the city of Coeur D’E Alene.
“We don’t know whether one, two, three or four” said, Sheriff Noris said, the authorities had reported bullets coming from different directions. Residents have been asked to avoid the scene.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said the agents were responding to “providing strategic and operational support”. Governor Brad Little posted on X that “many brave firefighters” were attacked.
“This is a heinous direct attack on our brave firefighters,” said the governor. “I ask all the Idhas to pray for him and his families because we wait to learn more.”
He said: “As this situation is still developing, please be clear from the area to allow law enforcement and firefighters to do their jobs.
