Kullu: All eyes will be on the Dalai Lama when it turns 90 on July 6 next week, as he can announce his successor that day. The year -long birthday celebrations of the Tibetan spiritual leader will kick at McLeodganj in Dharamshla, the headquarters of the Tibetan government on 6 July, and will end on 5 July 2026.The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) includes several ministers, including the elected chief and deputy speaker of CTA, and deputy speaker of CTA, said that the Dalai Lama turns 90 when she could reveal her successor.Tibetan government speaker Khenpo Sonam Tenfel told TOI that the Dalai Lama’s successor was also likely to be discussed at the three -day religious conference starting from July 2 in McLeodganj.Tenfel said, “Even though the subject is not part of the agenda of the conference, there is a strong possibility that the question of the Dalai Lama’s successor will be discussed and we can also get the answer.”Tenfel said, “The successor of the Dalai Lama should be from the free world outside China, as our holy leader has said. In any case, the Tibetans would have only accepted only one manifested by the Dalai Lama,” said Tenfel.Earlier this year, in his new book, ‘Voice for the Vyasles’ published in March, the Dalai Lama first specified that his successor would be born ‘Free World’ and outside China. The statement of the Dalai Lama is important as China insists that it will choose the successor in an attempt to gain religious control over Tibet. But Tibetans, especially in exile, will not accept a one chosen by China. The Dalai Lama has said that no successor nominated by China will be accepted by Tibetans. More than 300 dignitaries around the world are expected to reach Dharamshala on July 6 to attend the Dalai Lama’s birthday celebrations.Representative bodies of Tibetan people want a smooth transition to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), the current Dalai Lama, who claims to have his successor to name his successor to his successor in the name of successor.
