The interim chief constable of Devon and Cornwall Police has agreed to stay in a job for another 16 months.
James Von was appointed in December after T.He suspends the then acting chief constable Jim Kolwell.
Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez has extended the contract of Mr. Vaughan to January 2027 and has praised him for dealing with “Head-on” issues.
Commissioner Hernandez said that the force and residents of the region would benefit from the “very important period of stability”.
He said: “I am really happy to see how the Chief Constable Vauan has dealt with the heads of many heritage from the period of unstable leadership which was before his appointment.
“It is so important that Mr. Vaughan and I adopt an integrated approach in giving their police and crime plan priorities.”
He said: “I look forward to the coming 16 months, which I am confident that more good work and continuous improvement will be done under Mr. Von’s experienced leadership.”
‘Great organization’
Vaughan said: “The commissioner asked to be in my role in my role is a personal privilege.
“I have really enjoyed leading this magnificent organization for the last eight months and great work officers, employees and volunteers do every day to protect their communities.
“Despite some challenging times, we have made a lot of progress in the last few years and this is a will for everyone’s hard work in the force.”
Since their recruitment, the force has been excluded from special measures.
The process of recruiting a main main constable is planned to start in the summer of next year.
