Ben shelton The National Bank won the National Bank Open on Thursday night for the third and biggest title of his youth career, defeated Russia’s 11th-Kan Karen Khachanov by 6-7 (5), 6-4, 7-6 (3).
22-year-old Shelton, in fourth place, became the first American winner at the Masters 1000 Hard-Court event since Andy Rodic in 2003. Shelton also won the hard court in Tokyo in 2023 and Clay in Houston last year.
“This is a real feeling,” said Shelton. “It has been a long week, not an easy way to the final. My best tennis came out when it was the most. I was a clutch, I was firmly, I was flexible. All the qualities that I love to see myself.”

Shelton will proceed to one place for a career-high sixth in the world. He defeated Khachanov by defeating Khachanov 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 in an all-American semi-final match after one night.
“I think it was an ideal storm for me this week,” said Shelton. “A lot of tight matches and long matches. I played some of the best tennis that I have played this year.”
The winner had seven of his 16 aces in the third set, and ended the match by winning 14 consecutive points on service. He held love to force the last set tiebreaker.

29-year-old Khachanov has seven career titles-all on the hard court. In the semi -finals, he survived a match point in another third set tiebreaker against top seed Alexander Zerev.
“This is a positive, a great tournament, a great run,” said Khachanov. “I had some great battle and brilliant victory against the top people.”
At the top Pronounced sinner – 2023 winners in Toronto – and No. 2 Carlos Alakraj left the extended program as they are ready for the US Open.
Julian Cash and Lloyd GlassPool won the all-English doubles finals, with 6-3, 6-7 (5), which saved four match points in a 13–11 victory over Salisbury and Neel Scoopski. The second seeded Wimbledon Champion has won 19 direct matches.
