East-Supreme actor Dean Can announce that he plans to join the US immigration and customs enforcement agency, known as ICE.
In an interview on Wednesday, Can, who is already an oath law enforcement officer, said, “I will be sworn in as an ice agent Asap”.
This comes when he released a video to encourage the members of the public to join a recruitment drive by the agency, which is behind the Ramp-up exile scheme of the Trump administration.
Can Cain played Superman in the TV series, Lois and Clarke: The New Adventures of Superman between 1993 and 1997.
He has gone to act in several other films and TV shows, and is also directed.
At the end of July, Ice announced that it aims to recruit an additional 10,000 new personnel, making the agency’s headcount doubled as it increases exile across the country.
It is expected to recruit exile officers especially with lawyers, criminal investigators, student visa assistants and other roles.
Speaking on Fox News on Wednesday, Cain said: “I put a recruitment video out yesterday – I am actually an oath deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer – I was not part of the snow, but once I put it out and you put a little stain in my show, it went crazy”.
“So now I have talked with some officials on ice, and I have to be sworn in as an ice agent Asap.”
Cain said, “People have to step. I am moving. Hopefully, a complete herd of other former officials, former ice agents will take steps, and we will immediately complete those recruitment goals and we will help in the security of this country,” Cain said.
BBC News has approached the Homeland Security Department (DHS) for comment.
US President Donald Trump has vowed to increase the pace of exile from the US up to one million per year.
One part of that effort includes immigration raids since Trump became President.
They have provoked protests across the US cities, calling the raid illegally.
On 29 July, Ice announced that it was offering a $ 50,000 (£ 37,700) and student loan assistance bonus to the Americans wishing to help in the exile campaign of the Trump administration.
As part of the recruitment campaign, DHS unveiled the recruitment poster for those used during World War II, which “needs the US” and “Defense of Homeland” with images of Uncle Sam, US President Donald Trump, Homeland Security Secretary Christie Nom and other officials.
Till Wednesday, the agency said it had received more than 80,000 applicants for 10,000 posts. Speaking on Fox News, NOEM said he had removed the age limit for old applicants.
The ICE currently has 20,000 officers and support personnel, which are spread across the country in 400 offices.
The recruitment campaign came only a few weeks after Trump signed his comprehensive expenditure bill in the law.
The bill included more than $ 76BN allocated to the ICE – about 10 times more that was already receiving it – and making it the highest funded federal law enforcement agency.
