The Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday prepared a broad roadmap to strengthen law and order and crime control across the state.
According to a statement, the strategy focuses on ten major priorities to convert the state police into the most skilled police force in the country.
Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna’s instruction aims to ensure that the police force is responsible, modern and friendly.
10 priorities established by the police to strengthen law and order
According to the statement issued by the UP Police, the force has set 10 priorities to increase law and order in the state. they are:
- Crime and zero tolerance towards criminals,
- Empowerment and protection of women,
- Defending cybercrime,
- Maintaining public system,
- Improvement in police services,
- Pay attention to police welfare,
- Tapping of talent and expertise,
- Leverage Technology and AI,
- Increase in training
- Ensure effective public grievance redressal
The statement emphasized that the authorities should consider the best national and global practices for each listed priority and evaluate how they can be adapted to the socio-political and economic reference of Uttar Pradesh.
“Specific and average -class goals must be installed under each priority,” the statement states that these goals should be realistic and objectives clearly define. Under the new instruction, COPS is expected to assess the current status of each region and develop a practical action plan that simplifies existing systems and supports ease of implementation, stated in the statement.
Also emphasizes the importance of technology and AI in roadmap policing, urging the authorities to find out the existing software solutions used by other agencies or propose the development of new devices with clearly defined specifications.
Special training should be outlined in the context of format, period, trainers and number of personnel to be trained. The deadline and budgetary requirements for each action plan should also be determined, and the proposal presented for the required funds.
The statement states that if there is a need to change laws or rules, detailed information about the current provisions and proposed amendments should be provided.
The plan makes inclusive counseling mandatory during its construction.
The statement said, “Officers, police personnel, subject experts and persons with special knowledge should be sought.” This further suggested that from police personnel beyond rank -from constables to additional SPS, including inputs of targeted groups such as women and local citizens.
