Police in Idaho claim that a television special episode in the quadruple murder of Brian Kohberger included “gross inaccuracy” and “full lies”.
Kohberger convicted the death of Xana Kernodle, 20, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, 21, and Ethan Chapin, 20 on 13 November 2022 on 13 November 2022. He also convicted the counting of a stolen hooliganism.
Brian Kohberger was sentenced to four consecutive life sentence without the possibility of parole for four cases of first-degree murder and a count of hooliganism. After the sentence was sentenced in July, Judge Steven Hippler picked up the gag order, stopping anyone involved in the case from talking to the media.
In May, NBC’s “Dateline” ran a special episode on the Kohberger case, which included several pieces of new information that had not yet been made public.

The FBI cellphone tower data obtained by “Dateline” allegedly showed that Kohberger’s cellphone pinged about a dozen times on a tower that provides coverage to an area within 100 feet of 1122 King Road, where four universities Idaho students were killed. The late-night drive allegedly began in July 2022 and continued in mid-August 2022.
according to the report, Late night drive in the area of King Road House began after a Moscow pool party which was invited to Kohberger.
FBI cellphone records also indicated that Kohberger was within 100 meters of King Road House on 23 occasions, including a time on 7 November. All trips were after dark.
The “Dateline” special also claimed that a white Hyundai Ilanta, similar to Kohberger, had seen several times on King Road in the morning of 13 November, 2022, when murders took place.
However, Idaho State Police Lieutenant Darren Gilbertson, who was a prominent investigator in the Kohberger case, told the Idaho Statesman that “Dateline” found some of his facts wrong.
Gilbertson said, “There were some gross inaccurate and just completely lies.”

“Dateline” reported that wounds on chapin “were carved,” but Gilbertson said it was not so.
“There was a strike behind his leg,” Gilbertson said. “None of us believes or concluded that there was another purpose or what he was doing (some) rituals or anything. I think there was just a strike to ensure that the Ethan was not going to come after that.”
Gilbertson also said that Kohberger did not sit out of exhaustion in Colonodal’s bedroom, as “Dateline”.
“Completely wrong, made, no idea where it came from,” Gilbertson said. “He was not sitting on a chair anywhere in the house.”
“Dateline” also stated that Kohberger’s main goal was Moosen, but Gilbertson said it was not clear whether he or Gonclaves aims to be aimed at.
Gilbertson said that “Dateline” specials found some components correct.

He said that Kohberger used his cellphone to discover serial killer Ted Bundi and discovered pornography, “sleeping”, “pass” and “drug” terms.
“All this is very accurate. There were discoveries related to pornography, but it was not widespread,” Gilbertson said. “There was nothing that we believed,” Okay, you know, he has some kind of sexual desire that is driving it. ” But we also know that he removed and wiped out his equipment, so we do not clearly know what he had erased or what was not. ,
Latah county prosecutor Bill Thompson said that a special prosecutor has been appointed to investigate where the leak came from.

Thompson said, “There is a special prosecutor, and I can tell you that we are not investigating what we are doing or not, nor is there defense, nor is the judge Hippler.” “It is completely maintained independently, and whatever is investigating is confidential. That is what we were instructed by the judge.”
In a statement to Idaho Statesman, a NBC spokesman stated that the network stands by its reporting.
