If you use Microsoft Artist then time to take action

If you use Microsoft Artist to store your login information, it is time to take action. This month, Microsoft began to remove the payment methods stored from the app, and until August 1, 2025, the stored passwords are no longer accessible within the authentic.

While the app will still support two-factor authentication (2FA) and passKeys, its day as a password manager is officially finished.

But do not panic, your data can be saved, and your options are better than before. Let’s go on what is changing, where your data has gone and how to protect your credentials.

Why Microsoft is making this change

Microsoft is moving towards a password-less future. As part of that innings, it no longer wants to handle the authent app to handle password or payment methods.

In early July, Microsoft began to move your Microsoft account and passwords stored in the edge browser. That data is safe for now. However, any payment information stored in the app was permanently removed on 1 August.

This decision simplifies the focus of the app: 2FA code and passakies only. Everything else is being rolled in other Microsoft Tools.

Where did your password go?

If you had earlier saved passwords in Microsoft Artist, they are now migrated to your Microsoft account and Microsoft Edge browser. You can still access and autofil them on your mobile device, but the setup varies depending on your phone. Here is described how to enable the edge for password autofil:

For iPhone (iOS 18.5 and new):

• open setting
• Tap General
• choose Autofil and password
• Tagge Autofil password and passKeys
• Allow to fill with, select Edge (If it appears as an alternative)

Comment: All users will not see the edge listed as autofil provider. It depends on whether the version of the edge installed on your iPhone supports password autofil registration. If the edge is not available, you can continue using Apple’s new password app, or switch to a dedicated password manager that fully supports the iOS autofil.

What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

for Android:

SEttings may vary depending on the manufacturer of your Android phone

• Go Settings.
• Tap System (or general management “ On Samsung devices).
• Tap language and input (Under sometimes “advanced” Or “Input aid,
• Tap Autofil service.
• choose Edge From the list of providers.

If the edge is installed and is registered properly as an autofil service, it will appear as an alternative and support the autofil for saved credentials. If the edge is not visible, it means that either your version does not support autofil registration or your device manufacturer has adapted the settings in a non -standard way. In such cases, use a dedicated password manager, who is well supported on Android.

How to move your password to another app

Prefer anything other than Edge? Do not worry if you miss the August 1 deadline. You may still be able to export your credentials if they were migrated on your microsoft account or edge.

follow these steps:

• open Microsoft authentic
• Go setting
• Tap Export passwords
• save the file For your device or cloud storage
• Download one New password manager
• Tap Import On the dashboard of the app
• Upload Saved file

That’s it. Your passwords are now safely stored in your new app.

Important: Microsoft’s advice that if you switch to another autofil provider, you clearly disable as autofil provider as autofil provider. Conversely, if you use passkeys, make sure the authentic is enabled as your passing provider to avoid accidentally disabled those credentials.

Should you remove Microsoft Artist?

No, do not remove it yet. The Microsoft Atmosphere still plays an important role in your digital security. It produces 2FA code and store passakies, which are both important for the protection of your accounts.

However, if you are switching to another app, you will have to manually unlink the microsoft authenta from each account and set a new method. Unfortunately, the Microsoft 2FA does not allow the token to export to another app, so you will have to go to an account at a time.
