A zoo in Denmark has appealed to the public to donate its healthy unwanted pets as part of a unique attempt to provide food to their predators.
The Aalborg Zoo has asked for donations of living chickens, rabbits and guinea pigs, which says that there are “gently euthanasia” by trained employees.
The zoo also accepts the donation of living horses – capable of benefiting from a possible tax break with the owners.
Posting on InstagramThe zoo states that it has “the responsibility of copying the natural food chain of animals” and small livestock “makes an important part of our diet”.
The zoo says that the food provided in this way “reminds what it will naturally hunt in the wild” – and that it is especially true for Eurasian links.
Other predators kept in the zoo include lions and tigers.
Small animals can be donated over the week, no more than four without appointment.

They require horsepower to be eligible and cannot be treated for any disease within the last 30 days.
If they are successful in handing over their animals, horses may get a tax cut.
In a statement, the zoo Deputy Director, Piya Nielsen said that the zoo carnivores were fed to small livestock for “many years”.
“When keeping the non -vegetarian in mind, it is necessary to provide them meat, preferably to give them as much natural food as possible with fur, bones, etc.,” he explained.
“Therefore, it makes sense to allow animals that require euthanasia for various reasons to use in this way. In Denmark, this practice is common, and many of our guests and companions appreciate the opportunity to contribute. We are livestock chickens, rabbits, guineas and horses.”
