Congress MP KC Venugopal said that the block leaders of India have held a meeting in the national capital amidst their demands to hold parliamentary discussion on the ongoing special intensive amendment (SIR) exercise in Bihar before the upcoming assembly elections in the national capital on August 7.
Venugopal told ANI, “Will meet together on August 7 in Delhi. The leaders of the India coalition will be there.”
To “systematically target democratic values” to the Election Commission (EC), Venugopal said that his party would reveal the “serious misconduct” of the pole body in Bengaluru on August 5. He further alleged that the names of several voters have been “excluded” from the recent drafts released by EC.
“We are protesting against the head inside and outside the Parliament. The Election Commission is systematically targeting the democratic values of this country. We expect neutrality from the Election Commission, but they are not doing so. Many voters’ names are excluded from the list in Bihar. How can a fair democracy run like this?
Sources said on Sunday that members of India Block will hold a meeting on dinner for dinner against Congress MP and Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The voter list amendment in Bihar has provoked a political line across the country, alleging that the amendment process may be motivated by removing a large number of voters.
Many India Block MPs have transferred the postponement notice and Rules 267 notices postponed to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha respectively, demanding a detailed debate on Sir Drive respectively.
The ongoing monsoon session of Parliament has seen a continuous postponement amid opposition opposition.
According to the amendment exercise data in Bihar, about 35 lakh voters have either migrated permanently or cannot be detected at their registered address. The data has expressed serious concern about the integrity of the voter list as the Election Commission prepares for a nationwide amendment of the election role.
It is also worth noting that a large number of inaccurate voters have been found during the head in Bihar.
According to the government data of 2017, an estimated 2.04 crore Bangladeshi citizens and Rohingyas are considered to survive illegally in India, which combines another layer of complexity to concerns on voter list accuracy. As of January 1, 2024, there were 96.88 crore registered voters for general elections in India, which led to the result of nationwide amendment exercise.
