Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar on Saturday highlighted the importance of political sacrifice and power-sharing and how the leaders are reluctant to do so nowadays.
Although Shivkumar did not name anyone, his comment has speculated about a rift with a rotational Chief Minister with Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah – a deal later refused.
Speaking at the AICC-organized program called “constitutional challenges” in Delhi, Shivkumar appreciated the contribution of the Gandhi family to the party and praised Sonia Gandhi’s decision not to take the post of Prime Minister in 2004.
“When Sonia Gandhi was asked to take oath as Prime Minister by the President, he said,” For me, power is not important. ” He decided that a Sikh, a minority, and an economist should save the country and become Prime Minister, “Shivkumar said, called it a unique work of political sacrifice.
In a clear excavation to make a different step on the leaders, he said: “Has anyone sacrificed such a sacrifice in such a big democracy? Does anyone sacrifice a small situation even today? Some MLAs and ministers share power, but do not agree to share any power. Even at the panchayat level, many people do not.”

Earlier last month, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rejected speculation of a mid -term leadership change, stating that he would complete the entire five -year term.
“Am I not sitting here as Chief Minister? Where is the vacancy?” Siddaramaiah said in New Delhi. “DK Shivkumar himself has clarified this, and I am saying, there is no vacancy for the CM post,” he said.
His statement was seen as a clear attempt to constantly talk about Shivkumar being elevated to the top position in the latter part of the government’s tenure.
‘Congress’s history is the history of India’
In his concluding comment at the Delhi event, the deputy CM further spoke about the role of the Gandhi family in maintaining the heritage of the Grand Old Party and the unity within the organization.
“The history of the Congress is the history of the country. The Gandhi family has kept the Congress party united, and the Congress party has kept the country united,” he said according to an official party.
Shivkumar also urged party workers to unite with a general goal, ensuring that Rahul Gandhi became Prime Minister in the next general election.
“This conclave is not just a political agenda; it is a call for all of you to come together and bring back the country by 2029. By 2029, you should make sure that Rahul Gandhi ji became the Prime Minister of this country. It should be your commitment,” said news agency Annie.
