Police said on Saturday that a nine -year -old child was allegedly killed by four relatives as a “sacrifice” in secret practices.
One of the accused allegedly believed that his wife was “kept” by a deity and required a human sacrifice to fix it. He allegedly cut the boy’s throat, buried him and later removed his body and threw him into the river, he said.
Rush Gaur (9), a resident of Patkhauli village under Bhaluwani police station area, was missing since April 17, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Veer said.
The police started an investigation and formed several teams to search for the boy.
“Jayaparash Gaur was arrested due to investigation, who confessed to crime during interrogation and revealed the names of his associates. We have also arrested Indrajit Kumar Gaur, also known as Atul Kumar, Bhim Gaur and Ramshankar alias Shankar Gaur.
“To fix him (wife), Indrajit and his in -laws allegedly approached their uncle, Jayaprash, who recommended a human sacrifice. Indrajit then approached Ramshankar, by his distant relative presented him. 50,000 to arrange a small child, “the official said.
On 16 April, Ramshankar allegedly brought his nephew, Rush Gaur to his house. The boy was later handed over to Indrajit and Bhima.
“On the night of April 19, the accused allegedly performed a ritual in a garden in Pipra Chandrabhan, where he used to kill the boy’s neck and bury his body. The body was later instigated, placed in a sack, and was thrown into a river in Gauraghat, Barhaj, which was on 20 April with the help of a pickup vehicle.”
All four accused were arrested and sent to jail.
