In a cold incident in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, a person allegedly killed his wife at the behest of his lover and tried to pass it as a robbery, police said.
Om Saran (38), the accused, was arrested and sent to judicial custody, he said. Officials confirmed that their lover and co-composed, Mannat, was also arrested on Friday and sent to judicial remand.
In the initial statement of Sarna, after discrepancies, red flags were raised, her call records were examined, which revealed that she was in regular contact with Mannat, inspired the police to excavate deeply, SSP (Bareilly) said Anurag Arya.
The investigation eventually exposed the murder conspiracy, Arya said.
Saran, a resident of Badun district, was told by Section 103 (murder), 230 (fabrication of false evidence), 238 (disappearance of evidence of crime), and 240 (South) of BNS (South), 240 (South) Ansika Verma said in a press briefing late on Thursday.

Saran claimed that the wife died in a kanthri robbery attack
The accused initially told the police that on the night of 31 July, he was returning home on a motorcycle with his wife Amarvati when he was attacked by 3-4 unidentified men near the Kanthari village, who looted his cash and jewelery and assaulted his wife.
Saran claimed that the attackers stole Amarvati’s mangalsutra, gold earrings and about it 10,000 cash before escape.
The police registered an FIR based on Sarna’s written complaint.
As the investigation proceeded, the police started doubting the version of Saran’s incidents. On harsh inquiries, he admitted that he secretly married Mannat, who pressured him to finish his wife, if he wanted to continue his relationship, the ASP said.
Saran gets weapon, bike from in -laws before murder
On 30 July, Saran took Amarvati on a journey to Purnagiri as part of the plan. On his way, he stayed at his in-laws ‘house in Motipur, where he borrowed a motorcycle from his brother-in-law, Bhagwandas and a sharp weapon (Banka’), Verma said.
He stopped the bike near a deserted place in Kanthari village around 12:15 pm, and brutally attacked Amarvati with ‘Banka’, killing him on the spot.
To make it look like a robbery, he removed his earrings, mangalsutra, and 10,000 from his pocket, and hid them in a nearby bushes.
Verma said that after this he called his brother -in -law and a friend Anil Yadav, and arranged an ambulance, pretended to take his wife to the hospital for treatment.
The police later recovered the murder weapons, and hidden jewelery and cash based on the disclosure of the accused. The official said a mobile phone was also seized during the search.
