Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Friday that no quarrel will be demolished in the city before its residents are given permanent houses.
If necessary, the CM said, its government will amend the policies to ensure dignity and housing for all.
Rekha Gupta kept a wide vision to change Delhi’s face during a seminar on sustainable development in NCT, titled “Growth Bhi, Green Bhi”.
He said that the city should now accelerate development with better schools, hospitals, roads, water and sewer lines, solar and rainwater harvesting systems and a rejuvenation yamuna.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s call to track rapidly for the progress of Delhi, Gupta said, “The PM has said-the country will change, the country will be ahead (PM has said, if Delhi goes ahead, the whole nation will progress).”
The Chief Minister said that all his ministers are working for 16 to 18 hours a day to help Delhi hold with the pace of other states and cities, which have surpassed the national capital for years.
“The people of Delhi have lost a lot in those 27 years. Now, we have to give Delhi a new beginning,” he said referring to developmental neglect for decades.
During the incident, CM Gupta assured that not a single slum would be demolished until its residents are provided permanent housing.
He said, “Every one cocoam maken Denge, and this slum totne Nahi Denge (we will not allow any fights to collapse and everyone will get a permanent house).”
Gupta also criticized the old labor rules, especially the 1954 rule banned women from the night shift.
He said, “It should be a woman’s choice whether to work at night or not. The government cannot decide on them,” he announced that the Delhi government has lifted the ban to ensure more opportunities for women, while promising safe work environment.
Gupta said, “Delhi is the capital of India and it is worthy of rapid development, better infrastructure, technology and better life for its residents. But now, we have a chance to rebuild and make it right,” Gupta said.
