Jalandhar/Chandigarh: Three senior doctors of Jalandhar have been suspended at Punjab’s largest civil hospital and a house surgeon was rejected after the death of three airy patients after the failure of oxygen supply on Sunday evening. State Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh called the failure “unaware” and said that suspended doctors may lose service benefits. Despite the four backup sources, “irresponsible handling” caused a fatal decline under oxygen pressure, he said. Patients – Archana, Avatar Chand, and Raju – died between 7.15pm and 7.50pm in the trauma ward. A class IV was handling the staff system as both technicians were unavailable. Initial investigation found serious flaws. Singh ordered the supply of uninterrupted power to the government’s hospitals, emphasizing the availability of 24×7 oxygen in ICU and emergency wards.
