The temperature for the second day in London is predicted to be a 30C hit as the heatwave continues today. According to the Met Office, both former England and Midlands are predicted to look at the high levels of 28C.
Amber Heat Health Alert for some areas by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) on Friday was released till 18:00 BST on Tuesday, with temperature at peak on Monday.
This is the second amber alert in two weeks and means that the effect of the weather is “likely to be felt in the entire healthcare”.
The head of extreme events and health safety in the UKHSA has urged people to investigate the people who are more vulnerable and take “sensible precautions to enjoy the sun”.
The alert is spread to London, Eastern Midlands, South East, South West and East of England.
A yellow heat alert, less severe than Amber, has also been released for West Midlands along with Yorkshire and Hamber. It reflects the “important impact” for health and social care services.
On Monday, UKHSA warned, “Most of the country will see temperatures in the mid -30s” (C) at the height of the heat.
The current record of the country for June is at high 35.6C, set in 1957 at Meflower Park in Southampton and again met at Camden Square, North London in 1976.
Darren Kisan, director of operations in the London Ambulance Service, has warned: “It is really important to keep hydrated” and to “keep away from alcohol” in summer.
